I think it’s fun to recommend something I enjoyed but have mixed feelings about.
This is El Conde by Pablo Larraín. El Conde is a horror comedy about Augusto Pinochet, the ruthlessness of maintaining power, wealth accumulation, and having to live with a legacy that is remembered for lifetimes. Of course, he is a Vampire from Europe.
I grew up in a country that was healing from the wounds of its own dictatorship (consequently, one that fell around the same time as Pinochet’s) and while the characters made the dumbest, most illogical, downright contradictory choices that made the screenplay fall apart at times, a girl felt seen lol.
Great cinematography by Ed Lachmann as well. An easy 90-minute or so movie. Watch it. Tell me what you think.
