Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (2015)

Paul Pfeiffer is one of my favorite contemporary artists. A lot of his work deals with spectacle and what happens when you remove the subject from the context of what made the moment so grand, what then becomes of that moment. What informs significance? Where is the weight of the experience anchored? What happens when all these factors float in nothingness. My gateway drug into his work is the series, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, my favorite of which is #30 seen here. I’d spend my $1000 tax return on it and put the rest on Klarna for the rest of my life.
